How to Clear Low Energy and Attract More Success
This is Part 2 of our series on how to keep your vibe high as an entrepreneur. The first article explored the different energy levels we all have. If you missed it, you'll want to give it a quick look now before we dive into how to recognize when you're at a lower energy level and then consciously raise your energy. (Here's the link to our overview of energy levels one more time if you need it.)
You know we're all about high-vibe entrepreneurship at DesignGood. But that doesn't mean I haven't experienced some pretty low-vibe moments in my journey. I'm grateful for them, though, because those painful times held the lessons I needed to get where I am today — lessons that I can now share with our clients and with readers like you.
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is about the power of energy and intention — and our ability to clear low energy so we can call in more of our heart’s desires. I'm about to get really real with you. That's because I want you to know you're not alone if you're going through a tough time in your business, whether you're already established or just starting out. But I also want you to know that you don't have to stay stuck there. Profound change is more accessible than you may realize.
Rejection, Frustration and Low Energy
I got stuck myself because of something I know we’ve all experienced as entrepreneurs: rejection. Specifically, would get my feelings hurt when potential clients chose not to work with DesignGood because our prices were higher than they expected.
I would think things like this: "We could make their business so much more successful. Why don't they see the value in that?" Enter defensiveness. I would even start noticing the other things these people had chosen to spend their money on. I thought they were treating those things as being more important than their business. Enter judgment.
To put it mildly, I was not giving off good energy. And that attracted even more low energy to me.
From our last article about energy levels, you probably recognize that I was experiencing a lot of Level 1 energy and Level 2 energy (as defined by the iPEC methodology):
Level 1 Energy — Self-doubt, fear, feeling like a victim.
Level 2 Energy — Blaming, frustration, defensiveness.
Those are the two lowest levels of energy in the iPEC framework. And they definitely felt like it! When I had low energy I attracted low-energy clients who would never be the right fit for us.
Clearing Low Energy Starts With Awareness
To start experiencing joy and fulfillment in my business again, I knew I needed to raise my energy. You can use the process I followed to shift your own energy.
- Realize where you are. Once you're familiar with the seven energy levels, you'll start noticing when they show up in your life and work. It's normal to shift between different energy levels in the same week or even the same day, but you'll probably see some overall themes. For me at that time, Level 1 and Level 2 were definitely in control.
- Identify the circumstances that cause you to experience low energy. When I found myself in Level 1 or Level 2 energy, there was a clear trigger: potential clients passing on our proposals.
- Think about how Level 1 or Level 2 energy shows up for you. The various energy levels manifest in different ways for different people. For example, some people feel listless at Level 1, but this didn't happen for me. At least that Level 2 frustration was good for one thing: It gave me the energy to seek change.
- Picture what it would be like to show up at a higher energy level. In my case, I asked myself what it would be like to approach business development with more Level 4 energy. Level 4 is about being nonjudgmental and not taking anything personally. It's about leaving behind the desire to "fix" people. I also tapped more into my Level 5 energy, which is about turning around challenges and creating opportunities from whatever happens. I was even able to access my Level 6 energy, which transcends fear and the very idea of winning or losing.
What Higher Energy Looks Like
So, in practical terms, how did all of my efforts to clear low energy play out in the way I approached my work?
I don’t let declined proposals send me into low-energy states. I don't dwell on them. Instead, I trust that the right clients will find their way to us. When your energy is high, that energy has a way of making things happen for you. All I need to focus on is doing good work for good people. The rest will work itself out!
I've also become more empathetic that everyone is in a different place in their business and in their life journey. I pay more attention to how we can meet everyone we encounter where they are. That has led us to create more resources and freebies (like this blog post!) that can still help people who aren’t ready to engage us for our full branding services right now. If they ever do want to work together, we've already started building a relationship with them. But if they don't, that's fine, too.
I hope you take away a fresh sense of hope and inspiration from the story I've shared with you today. If your business isn't where you want it to be right now, changing that starts with paying attention to your inner life and your thoughts. When your energy is different, your business will be, too.
At DesignGood, we're all about helping you raise that energy — because you raise ours! Need a high-vibe partner on your business journey? shoot us an email or schedule a call with me to get started!
